Boniface: Water access improves community health and wellbeing
The lack of water at the Kigadye Health Center in Kigoma, Tanzania posed challenges that severely compromised healthcare delivery and patient safety. Dr. Boniface and his staff can now provide safer health services to Kigadye Community.

Previously, maintaining basic hygiene standards was almost impossible due to the lack of reliable access to clean water. Healthcare providers struggled to carry out routine tasks, essential tasks such as sterilizing equipment, ensuring proper handwashing, and maintaining a clean environment for patients, all of which are critical for preventing infections for both patients and staff.

The water challenges extended beyond the health center to the surrounding communities. Residents relied on unsafe water for their daily needs, such as cooking food, washing utensils, and cleaning hands, further jeopardizing their health and well-being.

The staff and patients now feel more confident and safer knowing that the health facility meets essential hygiene standards. Access to clean water has also improved the management of childbirth and other medical procedures, enhancing overall care quality.

Over 112,000 people now have access to safe water, significantly reducing frequent waterborne diseases. This improvement has profoundly impacted the Kigadye Health Center and seven sother health facilities where better hygiene practices have created a safer environment for both patients and healthcare providers.
